Bios:
Dr. Bellini obtained her MD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham followed by an Internal Medicine residency, a chief residency and pulmonary fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Bellini has held numerous leadership roles that span the continuum of medical education including serving as clerkship and subinternship director, Director of UME for the Department of Medicine, Vice Chair for Education, and Internal Medicine Program Director- a role she held for 20 years. She served as Associate Dean for GME/DIO for Penn Medicine. Following these responsibilities, she transitioned to Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development to have a broader impact on the continuum of education by focusing on the influence of faculty on the clinical learning environment. She currently serves as the Executive Vice Dean for Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine with oversight for policies, procedures, development, faculty professionalism and wellbeing, the Penn-VA academic partnership, executive leadership searches, departmental academic reviews processes, and the development of GME Programs in Vietnam through Penn’s global initiatives. She also serves as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of Pennsylvania Health System with oversight for Penn Medicine GME.
Denene Wambach joined the Office of General Counsel in September, 2012. Ms. Wambach represents the University and Penn Medicine on a variety of matters, including intellectual property, translational research, cell and gene therapy-related transactions, patient care ethics, industry alliances, healthcare/mental healthcare, reproductive health, and student disability accommodations, particularly in the housing and dining contexts. In addition, Ms. Wambach provides legal support to Penn’s Center for Cell Therapy and Transplant, the Penn Center for Innovation, the Ethics Committees of various Penn Medicine hospitals, Penn Medicine’s PEACE Program, as well as Penn’s cell collection, processing, and manufacturing facilities.
Ms. Wambach received her undergraduate and law degrees from Temple University, and she joined the Office of the General Counsel immediately upon graduation from law school.
