Bias and Systemic Racism in Academic Medicine: Strategies for Change

Dr. Valantine will frame her presentation using their core themes. First she will present scientific evidence underpinning “the case” for equity, diversity inclusion in  academic medicine – the “why”.  She will then give examples of the barriers to achieving DEI, especially focusing on bias. The bulk of her presentation will address interventions to achieve cultures of inclusive excellence in academic medicine using strategies that integrate interventions at institutional (systems change) and individual levels.
